RYA Smallcraft First Aid - from £100 per person

First aid is not a sexy subject.

However, Imagine You are 20 miles offshore it's got rough suddenly and colder.

A member of your crew has fallen in and is not breathing.

The RYA course is designed to teach you what to do if this happens.

Plus how to cope with minor ailments like sunburn, headaches, small lesions and how to respond to serious medical emergencies.

There is emphasis on resuscitation techniques mad 'first care' of a man overboard victim. The procedures of obtaining outside medical help and the Helicopter rescue services etc. will be explained.

Our Instructor is not only a hugely experienced Instructor and highly qualified and experienced 'Mariner'. He is an ex Paramedic and instructs in a hands on and clear manner.

The RYA course is organised in a very boaty way. This course is a must for all who go afloat and skippers should encourage their crews to attend. It could be you who needs attention!

The RYA Small Craft First Aid Certificate is valid for 3 years from the time of issue and is a prerequisite for those taking the Advanced Power Boat Course and for those who wish the Advanced to be Commercially endorsed plus other offshore RYA courses.

Our instructor has had hands on experience of administering first aid in confined spaces such as small boats. You will have the chance to try actions such as CPR and the recovery position. Mouth to mouth on a dummy is not sexy as mentioned but the course can be made very interesting and good fun!

As skipper you have responsibility to able to care for your crew. We have the responsibility to make sure you can.
